Isabel & Louis Brenner Honored
On Wednesday, September 19, 2012 Friends of the Portsmouth Juvenile Court hosted a reception to honor Isabel & Louis Brenner. The Brenners were instrumental in establishing the organization. They were particularly passionate about bringing the CASA program to Portsmouth. They have remained strong supporters of FOPJC. Their contributions to Portsmouth children and families are immeasurable.
Many of those who contributed time, talent and treasure to make FOPJC a dynamic organization were in attendance. We are grateful to the Beazley Foundation for their support of this event.

Dignity for youth in foster care
Melvina Snead presents duffel and shoulder bags to Portsmouth Department of Social Services Interim Executive Director Jackie Scott and members of her staff Michelle Sherrod and Sharon Goforth. The bags are to be provided to youth when they are removed from their homes by Child Protective Services. Each bag contains age-appropriate toiletries. Historically, trash bags have been used when a child was removed, which further traumatized young people.
The Virginia General Assembly has mandated that children in foster care be provided with an item of luggage. Friends of the Portsmouth Juvenile Court, through the generosity of an anonymous donor, is pleased to provide the luggage.
CASA volunteers
Melvina Snead, Portsmouth CASA Coordinator and two new CASA volunteers. Ready to go to work advocating for Portsmouth youth.
